People helping People

This is kind of real estate related, but really about helping others that you may or may not know.  I got an email from Max Chirkov from ibsteam.net- asking for help for a fellow Realtor/Blogger stricken with a condition called:

Guillain-Barre Syndrome: (GBS) (pronounced “ghee-YAN bah-RAY”) is a rare nervous system disorder that results from nerve damage caused by the body’s own immune system, usually in response to an infection or other illness. GBS causes muscle weakness, loss of reflexes, and numbness or tingling in the arms, legs, face, and other parts of the body. It can even progress to complete paralysis. GBS is the most common medical cause of paralysis that develops over days to weeks.

The internet provides us with a wealth of information and social media connects people across the country.  We may never meet the people we twitter with, or IM- but you do develop relationships with these people that show up in your inbox everyday.  So when a call goes out to help another- the internet is a power vehicle to get the word out.

You may not know Charles Richey from Las Vegas, but perhaps you know someone that has been striken with this disease and can offer comforting words of  advice for this family.

If you know Charles you would like to donate please visit this site.

If you are familiar with this condition- leave a comment and I will pass it along to Charles and his family.

I’ll take your seconds.

For the third time in a couple of weeks, I have received emails and phone calls from potential clients that have been snubbed by other Realtors.

The first was a lovely couple for WI looking for a second (winter home) in Maricopa.  They found a property online and tried to call and email the listing agent to find out more information about the property- no return call, no return email.  I took them out looking for homes last week.

Today I received an email from a young man looking to sell his home in Queen Creek.  I called him back and was very surprised how fast I responded to his email.   He had previously spoken or emailed two other realtors that have since not returned his calls.

He is very realistic about the market conditions in Queen Creek.  We talked for about 20 mins about the state of the market and some of his options.

Market conditions are challenging in Maricopa and Queen Creek, but they will get better.  I look at every email or phone call from a potential client as an opportunity to potentially help a home owner or home buyer- regardless of the outcome- I can find time to return a call or email.  If I am unable to help them- I will let them know upfront.

As Realtors, we are professionals, and it is my belief- we need to act in a professional manner and to me that means returning calls, emails and trying to find solutions for people looking to buy or sell real estate.

The Toll Roads are Coming!–or are they?

Announced yesterday on KTAR.com, the stunning news came that all valley freeways would be turned in to toll roads as of Wednesday April 2, 2008.

The story stated that while Valley residents slept Monday night, lawmakers passed and the governor signed a bill requiring you to pay tolls on all Valley freeways.  This came as a step towards balancing the state’s budget.  Many Valley residents were shocked, confused and downright angry!  How could this happen without a vote?  How could the lawmakers and Governor be so sneaky?

Did you happen to notice what the date was yesterday?  Yes, it was April 1st!  April Fool to you!

The debate regarding toll roads has increased in the last months with a bill NOT being passed last month assuring us that there will be NO toll roads anytime soon here in the Valley.  In fact, the Senate last month considered two such bills, rejecting one while sending the other to the House. By the end of March, the Senate considered a third and rejected it also.  Can you imagine?  With gas prices at an all time high, and with how the economy is struggling, the last thing we need is to pay to drive the freeways.  Rest assured, this will not happen!  Unless you vote for it….and I don’t see that happening anytime soon.  What a great April Fools prank!  Check out KTAR.com for more details of the real story!

Why I love my job…

Well it is not about real estate, it is all about the relationships that develop in the process of a helping a person or family buy or sell a home in Arizona.

Today I got to enjoy a St. Patty’s Day Party with one of my past clients that purchased a home a couple of years ago in Queen Creek.

When they bought their home their daughter was about 6 months old.   Now she is an adorable 3 year old with beautiful curly blond hair.  I got to meet their new neighbors and friends.  They love their house, they love their neighborhood.

Next week I get to help a past client (friend)  shop for her wedding and I am very touched to be apart of such a personal event.  What was really fun - during their home hunt, as they were staying in an extended stay hotel, Charles the Bernese Mountain Dog traveled with us.  If you do not know- I am an animal lover so it was great to have him shopping with us!!  Even better, when I see Charles now, he greets me with a wagging tail and lots of kisses.

Since becoming a REALTOR, I have more friends and have had more fun that I ever thought this profession would bring to me.   So to all my past and future clients “Thank you!!”
