More and more Albertans have or are in danger of losing their homes to the bank, according to numbers from the province.
Alberta foreclosures are on the rise, up by about 25 per cent annually over the past two years. Statistics from the province show a total of 5,746 properties were foreclosed on between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017. Of those, 2,277 were in Calgary and 2,523 were in Edmonton.
The Alberta total for the same time period the previous year was 4,556. In 2015, the total was 3,675.
